Fantastic experience: Francis was a really good driving instructor and had a realistic idea of where I was. I liked his directness where he pointed out the mistakes I made in order to make instant adjustments. He was also very friendly and respectful to everyone. Although it was a bit difficult to understand his accent at first as he did speak fast, he was very patient and slowed down his speech upon request. Booking driving time slots were very smooth and he was able to slot me in quickly. Aside from the age of the car, his Mazda 2 felt really easy to drive and I believe it made it easier for me to learn and pass the test.

Fantastic experience: Frances is a fantastic instructor who is patient and understanding of each student's unique needs in terms of learning to drive, the 12 EDT and taking the test. He is very accommodating of scheduling requests from the student or particular requests to review areas of instruction. I found him to be patient, decent craic in the car (but focused on the lesson) and excellent value for money. He gave me lots of notes to improve my driving from the view of passing the test. Some things I would never have thought of or noticed if he didn't bring them up. Overall 5 stars for service, instruction style and patience.

Fantastic experience: I completed my remaining 6 EDT lessons with Francis after a huge break. He was very patient with my driving since I was really nervous, would always throw in words of affirmation. He has great knowledge and overall really good instructor. Would highly recommend him for anyone starting from scratch because I have zero experience in driving and lessons with Francis definetly helped me alot.

Fantastic experience: Cannot thank Francis enough. Have been driving around for years on my provisional license and over time I picked up some bad habits. 1 week before my driving test I contacted Francis and asked him could he facilitate me with 3 pre tests and to hire his car for the test. He went out of his way to make sure he could fit me into his schedule. The 3 pre tests were so good. He pointed out where I was going wrong and where I needed to improve on. His way of teaching is top class. Would highly recommend him to anybody looking for a good driving instructor. Fantastic experience: I found Francis to be a fantastic instructor. I had zero experience and no confidence in developing driving skills. He put me at ease and gave me the help I needed in an enjoyable way that has slowly built up my confidence and given me the courage to tackle driving, whereas before, I didn't think I'd ever be able to make a go of it. His teaching method involved distracting me from my fears so that I didn't even think about them and before I knew it, I found myself driving in situations that I never thought I'd be able to tackle. He's a lovely man, an excellent instructor and I would recommend him to anyone, especially starting driving from scratch.

Fantastic experience: I did a pre test with Francis 3 days before my test. Francis was excellent at giving me feedback on what I was doing right and the areas that I needed to work on before my test. Thankfully I was able to pass my test with his help. Definitely would recommend him if you want to improve your driving.

Fantastic experience: The best in the business!!! If you are reading these reviews, then I am assuming you may be looking to get started driving soon, just like I was a few months ago! The best advice I can give to you all is to please book in with Francis for your lessons! He is the best around, so patient, really knowledgeable and good craic as well which really helps to put you at ease if you are a nervous Nelly like me! I was with Francis for all of my EDT lessons and also about another 15 plus lessons after this because I was very nervous and wanted to ensure I got a lot of practice in as am learning to drive for my young baby son. The first lesson, I was adamant that I wouldn’t leave the carpark but by the end of the lesson, Francis had me on the road. He really helps to calm your nerves and with believing in yourself. ‘ You’re not as bad as you think you are,’ ‘ You are special but not that special.’ I had absolutely no confidence at all but the good thing about Francis is that he will tailor the lessons for you and your abilities rather than going by the book as each person is different when it comes to driving. You won’t be forced to do anything till you are ready and he is really quick to react and take over if needed which trust me, he had to do with me a good few times! I definitely wasn’t what you would call a natural driver! Once you feel more confident, Francis will push you to try new things but only if you want to and it’s just so that you are learning and get the most from your time with him. I even drove on the N4 with him and I used to look at that road and say ‘ I’ll never drive on that.’ I did because he believed in me and trusted that I could do it which gave me the confidence. Francis can be strict with you and that may not be everyone’s cup of tea but that’s only if he has to be as you are on a busy road with other road users so he’s right in making sure that you are careful. He’s also really interesting to chat to and you can have a good laugh with him. I honestly feel I made a new friend and will miss him loads now until the time comes for pre-test lessons! Yesterday was one of my proudest moments yet as I drove from my house to the Maxol in Adamstown in the dark and back with my sponsor and back ( a good 10 minutes each way) which was the furthest I ever went on my own without Francis. I honestly wouldn’t have done it without Francis making believe that I could do it and if it wasn’t for him, I’d probably still be in the carpark! Thanks again Francis for everything! You're the best!!!

I had previously worked with another driving instructor and as soon as I did my first lesson with Francis I could tell the quality of instruction was much higher. He absolutely prepared me for my test and always did his best to fit me in for lessons even giving me a very last minute lesson before my test. I passed my test this week in Naas, first time taking it. I know I would not have passed first time if I had done my test under the original instructor, as Francis covered absolutely everything and even followed up with an email that covered all aspects of the test, I felt fully prepared and confident going into the test. Fantastic experience: Francis is the best driving instructor in Ireland.I've been trough few different driving instructors and none of them was as good as him. I had approx 10h of driving experience beforehand and thanks to his knowledge and practical aspect of driving he guided me through all the stages to become confident and aware driver. And trust me,I can be difficult to work with at times. Francis can be very demanding but also very fair,instructions and orders were always loud,clear and repeated as many times as necessary,same goes from pre test maneuvers,they were repeated to perfection with huge attention to detail.Always very professional,on time and up to date with my progress. Apart from everything else,Francis is a true gentleman,well mannered and polite. If you want to pass your test first time (like I did) don't hesitate and go for Francis from Castletown School of Motoring.

I passed my test first time because of his teaching methods, they really stuck with me and he made sure I was all ready for the test and answering all my questions. Negative experience: I have seen a few reviews that reflect my experience. I had a lesson with Francis recently and during it he repeatedly yelled at me aggressively raising his voice, which intimidated me. He also put his hands over mine while driving or while shifting the gears. I am not very experienced driving but I am safe and careful on the roads, I know how to steer and change gears and there was no need to invade my personal space this way. I have never had a driving instructor do this even when I first started. I of course became shaky as the lesson went on due to this behaviour. His directions were unclear which made it hard to learn. At the end I felt pressured to book more lessons with him. I wouldn't recommend him for anyone.

Having completed half of mine with another company quite some time ago, Francis was incredibly accommodating in fitting in my latter lessons. Fantastic experience: Recently completed my 12 EDT lessons at the Castletown school of motoring with Francis. Fantastic experience: I had a very nice experience learning driving and getting my license in 1st attempt. I did my EDT through another driving school sometime backl but came back to Francis for extra sessions and pre-test classes. Having driving experience outside Ireland, i needed to adapt my style in way the RSA expect . Francis's approach was straight to the point on what they expect. We had a couple of sessions and he was really helpful. I would highly recommend Francis.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test first time this morning thanks to Francis. Absolute gent, dead honest and a real perfectionist. Hadn’t driven a car in at least a year and he met me for the first time the morning of my test and he watched me and pointed out the issues and before we got to the test Centre I had corrected all the bad habits. Cannot fault the man at all, fully recommend to anyone who wants to pass! 5* service

Fantastic experience: Francis was absolutely perfect, started with him with absolutely zero driving, (hadn't even started a car) to passing my driving test first time. He's incredibly clear, patient and helps you focus on what you feel you need to learn while still teaching you the rules of the road.
