Fantastic experience: Just literally passed my test, after 20+ years of driving to come to Ireland and have to take again a test (old license doesn't transfer here). Fantastic experience: Declan was my instructor for all my 12 driving lessons. Our lessons were structured in a way that reviewed and build upon the previous lessons. This helped a great deal because I knew what to focus on each lesson, and Declan was patient and accommodating throughout. For example, one of the things I found difficult while driving was to judge a safe gap in traffic when taking off on a roundabout and junctions. He helped me greatly by going through the instructor manual then standing by a roundabout to look for cues of when a safe gap appears in traffic. We then went out in the car and practiced. His instructions gave me a solid foundation for my driving, and I was able to pass my driving test first time. Thank you very much Declan.

Fantastic experience: I honestly can't recommend Declan enough. I had done all my EDT lessons with someone else already and hated driving - found it pure stressful. Fantastic experience: I got my last lesson with Declan before passing the license B (manual car) driving exam in Castlebar Co. Mayo. This was my second attempt at the exam and before Declan I had 5 different instructors because I liked seeing what each recommended instructor could offer. No one recommended Declan to me because well he has only been at this for near two years and he is relatively young compared to the rest of the avaliable instructors. This is a great thing because he is very enthusiastic and is actually a personal person. I find that the other lads are very generic as they are going through a set routine or training the same breed of sherperd dog over and over agian. Declan also lets you drive and discusses after a period of driving what you missed instead of critically telling you at the moment it happens. The other instructors tend to want to give breath by breath, blink by blink instruction. I find this makes the student incapable when left to their own and nothing sinks in because there was no training that instilled ownership of the skills, i.e. confidence. Declan got top class instructor training and it shows in the tools and visual material he uses when doing non driving classroom like teaching. Declan if I can encourage you to do one thing that I find was very effective would be to have the student explain back to you what the methods, techniques, and purposes of all the sections - even while in the moment of operating the car! Lastly the rules of the road book is 340 pages and yes can be long and dreary but if the student reads that a couple times a week for 6 months they will have great faith in why things are done a certain way on the road. The logic is laid down there for learners. PS Declan the hand wheel 180 rotation (12 to 6, 6 to 12, ...) makes the car a joy on close turns and maneuvers. Thanks for pointing that out.
