Al Dwyer (RSA ADI) School of Motoring: Reviews
Negative experience: Learning how to drive is difficult , everyone is aware of this but it makes it that bit more difficult when the person who’s “experienced “ to teach is incapable of doing so or at least on the day proved it . I had completed 3 lessons with Al Dwyer and was currently carrying out my 4th lesson to date at the time. Al had taken me out on this particular day to complete my 4th driving lesson and instructed me upon entering a cul de sac to perform a reverse when at the end of a cul de sac . The cul de sac was performed in a quiet terrace in Farnaree with no traffic at that time or any time for that matter , a simple place to perform a technique I was not comfortable with at the time but learning how to drive is part of it all . When coming up to the cul de sac to do the turn itself and perform the reverse Al instructed me to reverse and for some reason I heard handbrake whether it be on his part a mistake but I certainly recall hearing the word hand brake and being a learner at the time, uncomfortable with the technique , carried out what my instructor said or at least I recall hearing the word handbrake . As I reversed in order to stop the car I pulled the handbrake and Al reached over pulled my hand off the handbrake and the car came to a stop . He asked “what are you doing “ in a contradicting way and I said “ I heard you say pull the handbrake “ he lost the plot anyways and stated “I’ve 30 year’s experience doing this and I know I wouldn’t have asked you to pull the handbrake doing a reverse “. The conversation went on in the car for some time after, between a back in fourth for my reasoning I would only pull the handbrake after hearing what he said he decided it was time for me to go home . He said I don’t think we will be going out again and joked about “are you going to pay me “ as if I was going to leave him short or something . I feel on the day he was in the wrong but what I didn’t appreciate was after his “30 years of experience “ doing this stuff he wouldn’t have lost the plot at me after only doing 4 lessons at the time and be a bit more professional and handle the situation better and maybe understanding that he too can make mistakes and may have said the wrong time at the time to me which caused me to pull the handbrake in the wrong moment . Would not recommend to anyone , disgrace the way he carried on after the incident I’ve since passed my test after him staying “ I would never have a chance “ . Very unprofessional
Fantastic experience: I've started a few lessons along the ago with al driving school and done my 13 lessons with this well worth getting instructor if you could book him never an issue used to make contact with you and collecting point would be outside your own front door 100% rate on experience and detailing everything that I was doing wrong from the 2nd lesson passed with flying colors thank you al still motoring next move is lorry liecence thank you al for teaching me to learn how to play the game in real life street wise to think about other drivers that can't use indicators on any direction they come from Thank you again from Troy.
Fantastic experience: Al Dwyer I would highly recommend
Negative experience: I come here to write this review because I booked 3 lessons with Con O'Sullivan I did two, but he only marked one in my book. I tired and tried and tired again and again to contact him to get him to register the lesson in the book when i finally had to ring him and eh answered the phone he told he would call me back in 30 minutes, he never did and hours later I had to call him again. At this point Con O'Sullivan got defensive and said I was thretening him, because I asked for a refund for the 3rd lesson as I'd given up trying to reach out to him to book the lesson and get the other lesson signed. Throught this whole conversation I simply asked for the refund. He than agreed to send the money to my account and asked for my IBAN, I am still here wating for the refund and contacted him again to clarify if he had sent it and he coutinues to ignore me again. I found this whole process frusrating due to his LACK of PROFESSIONALISM. Another worrying thing is that he did not followed any COVID guideliness. I do not recommend anyone to go throught what I am going throught now , I am even considering at this point to seek legal advice.
Fantastic experience: Did my pre test for my full licence with Al Dwyer. Great instructions, hints and tips. Went through everything thoroughly with me. Passed my test. Delighted
Fantastic experience: Great guy and very good instructor
Fantastic experience: Al is a thorough gentleman out and out, i couldn't really recommend anyone else, by far the best driving instructor around.
