Fantastic experience: I had Mick as my driving instructor for a manual car. I was scared to drive a car and now I passed on the first try and I can imagine myself behind the wheel alone without terror. The experiences all in all was great: very good explanations of "why" you need to do certain things on the road, very calm when I was making mistakes and supportive when I was doing a good job. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: My recent experience: I booked for 90 minutes package which is 230 Euros for my driving test day in May, 2024. After the pretest, I was refused to have the car for the test and I could not attend the test. So according to their policy , I should be refunded for the car hire money (As I did not use the car for test). I am pasting that section of the policy: " If we feel that you are not safe the tester will feel the same way and it is neither safe nor wise to continue with your test. In this event you will be liable for the cost of the driving instructor’s time (i.e. the number of hours of pretests plus one hour for the car hire itself) but not the cost of Car Hire for the test." However, I got only 10 euro (out of 230 Euro) back from the instructor. I mailed them for refund for the car hire money (mentioned in the policy) and clarification but I got same reply everytime (i.e 'there are no refunds on deposits within 5 working days of the test under any circumstances'). My case was a package and it is a one day (at the day of test) event. So according to their policy and in my understanding, this '5 day ' span is not applicable for me. Finally, I was not able to carry out my official driving test as the I was refused have the car for the test and I didn't get any money back, except only 10 Euro from the instructor.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed my driving lessons with Amy, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Amy is truly the best driving instructor. She taught me everything I needed to pass my driving test, and more importantly, how to drive safely and confidently for the rest of my life. Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Amy enough, would not have passed my test without her. She is a great teacher and she really helped calm my nerves and give me confidence in my driving.

Negative experience: Scammers. I booked a package of 4 lessons and I agreed with Mick that I'll take more than the 4 lessons because I needed more practice. An instructor called Sean from Cork came for the 1st lesson, he let me drive less than 5 minutes without showing me the car or anything as I am not used to his car. I didn't even drive 5 minutes then he stopped me saying that I won't pass the test, and he said that he'll arrange with Mick to give me my refund back. Ofcourse Mick refused to give me the refund saying that the terms and conditions state that they don't give the refund back. I am completely shocked by that as the agreement was that I am having a lesson while the instructor didn't even give me a lesson. They only wanted to take a deposit if 85 euro for absolutely doing nothing. Be aware of this scam. It seems that the positive reviews are from their friends and are not legimate reviews because when I spoke with Mick about the refund he told me: 'look at the positive reviews, we never had an issue with the refund'. That's a disgrace really. Be careful.

Positive experience: The car they assigned me had a dashboard in miles rather than kilometres which added an extra thing to worry about during the test. I would suggest to anyone booking a car here to ask the specifications of the car before the test so you know what to expect.

Fantastic experience: I had my driving exam in Wicklow test centre and I had hired the car for the test from Driving Test Car Hire . Driving Test Car Hire is an Amazing Driving School, Mick was an incredible instructor, he was kind, calm, patient and overall great teacher. Mick taught me the basics of driving and slowly built my confidence up. He taught me in a really nice and composed manner which really helped me out. He taught me all the manoeuvres perfectly, he taught me great discipline on different kinds of roads so when it came to my test I was confident in my driving abilities and I passed almost faultless. it was a real pleasure and joy to learn from such a great instructor and I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for driving lessons

He was very calm and practical from the start and had me correcting any last minute mistakes so i would not make them on the test. Negative experience: I was scheduled to take my car test today and was to use this company’s car to take my pre-test and full test. The instructor Ross took me on a 1 hour pre test and I was felt ready to finally take my test. As we get back into the parking of the test centre Ross asks for payment in cash before I had even taken my test. At first he was respectful about it, however I had told him since I am used to paying card I will contact Mick (the owner) for an invoice before paying the entire amount since there would be no proof of payment. He instantly got aggressive and tried to bully me into paying however I had asked him to calm down and that I will happily oblige to pay once I can confirm I will get an invoice. He started to insult me and belittle me and demanded I get out of his car and he refused to let me sit my test. I wished to take the test in my own car then however I felt so sickened I was not in the right health to take my test due to Ross. I am disgusted and appalled by this. I will report this and this company for taking money and not delivering the services.

Fantastic experience: Great bunch of lads and incredibly straight forward and easy to deal with. Didn't pass the test first time but from the pre-test I did with Kim before my first test, I definitely feel more confident about passing it the second time round and I'll definitely use these lads for car hire again. Highly reccomend

Negative experience: The car I got for my test was old , jerky and mechanically not 100% working. very disappointed with the car provided. My driving instructor Eoin was a nightmare. Never recommend Eoin to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I was so happy and lucky to have found this school. They are so easy to work with. A huge thank you to Amy and Steven who did an amazing job and led me to success. I passed my driving test the first time. They explained everything in great detail and I could hear their voice in my head during the exam, which shows that they know how to explain things in a way that will stick in your memory. Negative experience: Paid deposit of 75 euro to do 2 hours with Sean in Wicklow as well as use his car for the test. Sean gave instructions that he was parked in the Murrough car park, I was waiting and waiting and sean showed up arriving 10 minutes late and not even in said car park. Instead of apologising for the mix-up he said “you’re obviously not a local if you don’t know this is the car park I meant”. I did only one hour with Sean for him then to say he’s seen enough and he’s not even going to finish the two hour lesson or allow me to use his car but not to worry as he will only charge me half price ?!! I’ve lost the €85 I paid for my test as well as 165 for the worst one hour lesson of my life. I’ve never in my life been so uncomfortable and upset by someone. During this one hour lesson I was told don’t worry I don’t give out, followed by loud sighs and deep breaths and “WHY ARE YOU IN SECOND GEAR FOR THIS TURN”. I was talked down aand shouted at and made feel so incompetent. My usual driving instructor actually recommended me to use this as I haven’t my own car and I’m thinking he must not have been thinking of Sean as when I told Sean who I had done my lessons with he was rolling his eyes and disapproving of my own instructor?? I’ve seen so many positive reviews and I was really looking forward to today but it’s turned into a total nightmare and completely drained my confidence. Please take Sean off your books. He is old fashioned, sexist, ageist and rude. EDIT: Mick from driving test car hire did reach out and apologise for the experience. I have also been assured via email by Mick that he will not be sending future test candidates to Sean. I have also received response from the RSA as I lodged a complaint through their ADI section. Sean Burke is under review and I’m glad that I can finally start to get past this trauma. Many thanks to Mick for rectifying this.

Negative experience: Andy is a great instructor and explained a lot in the 45 minutes to 1 hour we had befor the test. Unfortunatley, his car (mazda) was very old. The clutch was was very hard to press and changing gears required extreme strength and force.

Fantastic experience: Booked a last minute pretest a day before my test and Amy was happy to accommodate me, minutes into my pretest Amy made feel very comfortable, I’ve learnt a lot of bad habits whilst waiting for my test, Amy was quick to Spot them and gave me many pointers that I needed to correct for my test, Amy also sent me driving tutorial videos which were very handy, happy to say I’ve passed my test on my first attempt and would totally recommend Amy

Fantastic experience: I booked a 2hr day before + 1hr on the day of exam + car hire from DTCH. Steven was very polite and could immediately identify areas to fix on my pretest lesson. Negative experience: THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. DON’T BOOK ANYTHING WITH THEM. WASTE OF MONEY!!! The driver wasn't honest and he just ignored my questions not answering properly. He strongly smelled of alcohol and judging by his poor behaviour it looked like he was drunk. The training was useless and there are many cheaper and better instructers out their. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Negative experience: Stephen was extremely unhelpful, unprofessional, and condescending. His negative attitude would be enough to spoil any driving test candidate's chances of performing well on the test. I highly recommend that interested drivers look elsewhere as there are plenty of great driving instructors in Dublin. Stephen is not one of them.
