Johnathan is a friendly, professional, patient and very informative driving instructor who is capable of teaching in a way that suits you. He has inside out knowledge on all aspects of getting your license and was very accommodating throughout the process. He was the decisive factor for me to get my test the first time. Excellent investment in all aspects of your own driving to be taught by this man. Couldn't recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: I am on my lesson 8 with Jonathan. He is a very patient instructor, he never stresses me out even when I make mistakes, he makes sure to gently explain me what I did wrong, that is something I wanted in an instructor. Really glad to have chosen Cripps school of motoring!!!

Negative experience: I was so nervous & instructor did not help, asked me, I was over here on a cap year from US & wanted to try for a EU licence. I was told to reverse around a bend which was totally blind black spot so could not even see if oncoming traffic was going to come on that end. I decided then and there after the lesson to never go again, I found the Irish instructors here don't have any regard for where they teach you & how they teach you.

Fantastic experience: Extremely aproachable and kind instructor, very calm and doesn't mind repeating the same things no matter how many times needed. He adjusts lessons to individual learners depending on their personality and driving affinities which allows the student to adapt faster. I could not have had a better instructor, very professional and pleasant. I was looking forward to every lesson! He made driving interesting and fun. I will definitely miss our lessons. Fantastic experience: Jonathan is a great instructor, I had done a few lessons with a previous instructor and it left with me a sour taste in my mouth when it came to driving instructors but Cripps School was great, Jonathan is patient, gracious and firm. He helped to not just learn to pass the driving test which I did first time, but also understand why you do specific things and drive a certain way outside of just passing a test. Great instructor, nice guy, he let me hire his car for my test and passed straightaway, first time. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Jonathan enough. He is very knowledgeable, patient, down to earth, and encouraging. You will actually enjoy your lessons! And thanks to him, I passed my test on the first try! I came to Ireland as an American driver and as such, I had a lot of unique challenges adjusting to driving in vastly different conditions. I was not only learning to drive a manual car after 16 years of an automatic, but also unlearning some very ingrained instincts (like the other side of the car and road!). Jonathan was able to systematically prepare me not only for my test, but as a safe, confident driver. Jonathan has a brilliant way of scaffolding each lesson. The lessons were an excellent balance of building confidence and on the skills gained from the previous (impressively he always recalled exactly where we left off!) with a manageable yet challenging new goal. In this manner, each lesson was tailored to exactly what I needed to improve. During our lessons, he would find a way to explain not only what I was doing incorrectly, but why and how. Getting down to this root cause allowed me to adjust my driving in permanent ways rather than in a way to just pass my test. I always walked away from a lesson knowing that I gained a new skill or improved on one of my patterns. And now I walk away as a confident driver! No matter your challenge or situation, Jonathan is definitely the instructor for you!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Jonathan from Cripps School of motoring as a driving instructor. Jonathan was my driving instructor for three months between March, April and May and in that time I had about 17 or so lessons with him. I had no access to a car to practice between my lessons, so everything had to be done during them! I also got my permit before April 2011 so I did not have to do the EDT lessons, instead Jonathan tailored lessons according to what I needed. Jonathan was exactly the type of instructor that I needed. I was very nervous to start, but he always put me at ease and managed the balance between recognising when I was at my limit, but also setting me tasks that challenged me and helped me to improve. He is an excellent teacher – he would look at patterns of my mistakes and try to address the underlying problem rather than just telling me what I did wrong each time. He also seems to tailor his teaching style according to what best suit students – for me he recognised that I want to understand the logic behind rules of the road or dealing with situations before I could apply them myself. At the beginning of each lesson, he would (impressively) recall what I had done in the previous lesson, and tailor that lesson according to areas I needed to work on. He would also send me extra learning material outside of lessons (like questions lists and videos) to help me prepare. I passed my test first time (well… really my second because I tried first 10 years ago, but I’m not counting it!) and was delighted. A part of me was a little sad because it meant my weekly spins with Jonathan were over! So if you’re in need of a friendly, competent, experienced and excellent driving instructor who will take your unique needs into consideration, Jonathan’s your guy!
