Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about L 2 N Driving School:
Passing on the first attempt with Peter at L 2 N Driving School
L 2 N Driving School, based in Limerick and covering the Castlemungret and Woodview test centres, has established a strong reputation for helping learners achieve their driving licence with confidence. At the heart of the school’s success is instructor Peter, who is widely praised by students for his calm, patient, and clear teaching style. Many learners report passing their driving test on the very first attempt, attributing this high success rate to his thorough preparation and encouraging approach.
A teaching method built on clarity and confidence
Students consistently highlight Peter’s ability to break down complex driving rules into simple, understandable concepts. Rather than overwhelming learners, he focuses on building confidence gradually, ensuring that each lesson is productive and tailored to the individual’s needs. His patience is particularly noted by those who felt anxious or inexperienced before starting, with many mentioning that he helps them feel at ease both on the road and before the test day.
- Personalized instruction: Lessons are adapted to the learner’s pace, with clear explanations and practical feedback.
- Test preparation: Peter provides detailed tips and mock tests to ensure students are fully prepared for the official exam.
- Local expertise: Instructors are well-versed in the specific test routes and common pitfalls at Castlemungret and Woodview.
Professional service and flexible scheduling
Beyond the classroom and on-road training, L 2 N Driving School is commended for its professional and flexible service. Peter is described as accommodating, often adjusting lesson times to suit students’ schedules and even providing the school car for the driving test itself. This level of support helps reduce stress and ensures a smoother journey from learning to licensing.
Why learners choose L 2 N

L 2 N Driving School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Huge thanks to Peter! I passed my driving test on the first attempt. He explains what you need to know in a simple, clear, and calm way, which made driving feel less stressful. His teaching style really helped me build confidence and pass the test. Also, his prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend him.

Congratulations Chelsea on passing first time, great result, well done.
Fantastic experience: From the first lesson with Peter I felt I was growing as a driver and my confidence was building as I went out on the road. A big thanks to Peter and L2N driving school. It was a great experience and he helped me to be as prepared as possible in advance of the driving test.
Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to Peter and L2N driving school. Passed my test first time thanks to the lessons from Peter! Professional and friendly service always
Congratulations Olivia, well done
Fantastic experience: Thanks to Peter, I passed my driving test on my first attempt. Peter is very thorough with his approach, making sure you don’t miss anything and that you are well equipped for the test. He covers every single thing so you would never be surprised during the test and he wouldn’t advice you go for the test unless he believes you are ready, which I found very useful. It’s an expensive process so you wouldn’t want to repeat it. He also tries his best to accommodate everyone and their lesson time. I found Peter to be clear with his instructors. I'd recommend Peter to anyone who wants to pass on the first attempt!
Congratulations on passing first time Deborah, well done
Negative experience: Passed my test second attempt in manual transmission, but not thanks to this instructor. Peter relies on a lot of external sources and conditions in order to achieve his pass rates. The first example you will notice is that he will pull out the RSA handbook at the start of the lesson and start reading it word for word, and rather than explaining the material, will ask you, "Is that all clear?" In other words, he doesn't show you anything; he reads it off. He will then proceed to take you out on the road and demonstrate nothing that he read out in the handbook. It's mainly random. For example, in my second lesson with him, he read out a passage relating to hazards, but directed me aimlessly across Limerick, not encountering a single hazard to his reading. He could have brought me to an area prone to hazards (such as a pot hole, large body of water) but he did not. There are two issues with this first example: 1. It shows Peter is not confident in his abilities to approach pupils. He should understand that the booklet is only a guideline, not something to be strictly instructed on each pupil as a one-size-fits-all approach. The book was not designed for every learner driver. His job is to fill in that gap to apply it to each individual student, but he does not do this. 2. He effectively is not teaching you the material, and heavily relies on that line, "Is that all clear?" to cover himself. A student cannot possibly articulate what is being described in the material without being effectively shown. This is one of his major weaknesses as an instructor. The second example of him relying on external sources and conditions is his belief in outside practice. His teaching methods (if you can call reading a booklet 'teaching methods') boil down to what he likes to refer to as "driving one forward" where the real skill development comes from outside practice. This is a massive issue because not every student has access to another car. Any well-experienced driving instructor of good faith will tell you that it's their job to bring you up to testing standard, not outside help. This, combined with the point that he relies on the booklet, shows a lack of interest and due diligence as a driving instructor. -- GENERAL BEHAVIOUR -- The Vehicle Itself: Peter's vehicle is not well-maintained and tends to be unclean. His gearstick, especially, gathers a lot of bacteria and dross. The footbed beneath the car's pedals can sometimes contain wrappers, large portions of mud, and dust. While it is understandable that he cannot maintain perfect cleanliness all the time on a busy day, it is not understandable nor acceptable why he cannot take out foreign matter (such as wrappers) or give the gearstick a quick wipe. Peter's Personality: Generally, he is not a pleasant individual to deal with. He does not laugh, make small talk (aside from the odd time), smile, or give off a welcoming attitude. Similarly, he does tend to get emotional (angry) during drives, often relying on driving the car himself, raising his voice, or scoffing when his instructions are not understood. Oftentimes, his instructions are certainly unclear, such as advising to "turn right at the next junction" when he actually means the junction ahead of "the next". Such "mistakes" cause him to grab the real and get upset. This shows that Peter is unable to control his emotions during a drive, which is neither safe nor professional. He also sometimes gets angry at other road users, and has a little pedal that allows him to honk. This I actually found quite funny, but also strange that a supposedly mature adult would do such a thing. Similarly, to follow on from that point, he heavily relies on clutching and breaking rather than using his words to instruct. He won't tell you to clutch down if you forget, he will do it for you. Generally, I would not recommend this instructor. It seems his decades of experience have grown stale, and he has not learned anything, stamping his name on passes that were achieved by external means.
I have no idea who this person is or if I even did any training with them. I have trained thousands of people successfully from their first lesson to passing their test. In any case, congratulations on passing your test and drive safe.
